An Initiative of Mayo A. Shattuck, Constellation Energy Golf Classic, Tees Off September 11, 2006

An inspiring leader, Mayo A. Shattuck has enabled Constellation Energy to stay true to its core values and provide top performance in the areas of accountability, speed, creation of value and passion for excellence as benchmarks for results as it seeks to make a place as a truly visionary company. Clearly, his leadership had something to do with Constellation Energy’s recent success.

Under the tutelage of a leader of Mayo A. Shattuck’s caliber, Constellation Energy has compiled many industry awards. During 2004, only three short years after Mr. Shattuck joined the organization, Constellation Energy was also awarded the Platts Energy Company of the Year Award for its leadership in the North American competitive electricity marketplace and impressive growth. As the largest energy provider to commercial and industrial customers, Constellation Energy has achieved vigorous double digit growth over the course of Mr. Shattuck’s time with the company. The panel of international judges cited several of these factors in determining the winner. In that year, the Edison Electric Institute also awarded Baltimore Gas and Electric with its Emergency Assistance Award for its role in power restoration in Florida after the series of hurricanes that swept through the area. These two achievements were in no small part attributable to Mayo A. Shattuck.

In 2005, Constellation Energy was once again an industry leader. The winner of the 2005 Edison Award, the electric power industry’s highest honor, Constellation Energy was lauded for the successful execution of its competitive business strategy and its leadership in the competitive energy marketplace. This award is given to the organization that makes the most outstanding contribution to the advancement of the electric power industry. Amongst energy companies, Constellation Energy garnered top honors, ranking No. 1, and making the list of Fortune’s list of America’s Most Admired Companies. This honor is based on the assessment of several areas, including: innovation, financial soundness, employee talent, management quality, social responsibility, use of corporate assets, long-term investment and quality of products and services. That was not the only award Constellation Energy was recognized for.

The amount raised by the Constellation Energy Golf Classic (9/11 – 9/17) represents a mere fraction of what Constellation Energy gives to the community and other charitable organizations. Last year, Constellation Energy gave approximately $10 million through its formal corporate programs, showing its strength in corporate philanthropy after only four years into Mr. Shattuck’s tenure. The three areas in which Constellation Energy, led by president, chairman, and CEO Mayo Shattuck, supports are Volunteerism, Corporative Giving, and Employee Giving.

With this understanding of Constellation Energy as an organization, led by Mayo A. Shattuck as its chairman, president, and CEO, we can fully expect the Fourth Constellation Energy Classic to be as successful and fun as the first three. The Classic began Monday, September 11, and will end on Sunday, September 17.
